Luis Jimenez is the Executive Director of the NYC Clothing Bank, which distributes new clothing to people in need residing in New York City. Beyond this general outreach, the NYC Clothing Bank has developed and runs an initiative called "The New Beginning Clothing Store", this initiatives provides interview-appropriate clothing to Department of Homeless Services' job fair participants. The NYC Clothing Bank is also a member of Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters, this organization response to the needs of victims on emergencies in coordination with the Office of Emergency Management. Prior to this, Luis opened the first World Vision Storehouse in New York City. The Storehouse provides $8 million per year of surplus products, such as personal hygiene products, school supplies, clothing, household goods and building materials, to a network of 300 partners that include churches, shelters and underserved public schools. Before starting his career in the world of for-profit logistics, Luis was a Logistic Specialist for 17 years. He has worked at several large corporations, including USCO Logistics, Tufenkian Import/Export and Victoria Packing, where he specialized in increasing operational efficiencies while raising customer satisfaction and sales. Luis attended Farleigh Dickerson University and studied Construction Engineering Technology; and is on the board of several local community organizations. Luis grew up in New Jersey, the youngest son of an immigrant family from Ecuador. He currently resides in Queens, NY with his wife and two sons. |
